Basingstoke Bluefins competed in their 2nd weekend national league weekend of fixtures at Nottingham returning with a 3 wins.

The first game was against Bedford who beat the Bluefins in both matches last year. Bluefins started the game well and were 1-0 within 20 seconds when Andreas Kottas scored from 2 metres. This lifted the Bluefins, and defence player Paul Adams then scored from 7 meters with Kottas adding a third to leave Bluefins 3-0 up at the end of the first quarter.

In the second quarter Bluefins relaxed and Bedford made them pay with 2 quick long range efforts before Adams, finding himself furthest up the pitch, scoring from 2 metres to give Bluefins a 4-2 lead but Bedford struck again just before half time leaving the score 4-3 to Bluefins.

The third quarter was closely contested; firstly with Bedford pulling level, and then with just 23 seconds remaining Trevor Jones scoring to leave Bluefins 5-4 up going into the last Quarter.

After a tense first minute of the last quarter Bedford equalised but Bluefins then scored the next 2 goals both from Kottas to go 7-5 up. Bedford then struck back with 2 goals with reply to leave the score level going into the last 2 minutes of the game. Adams then scored another long range effort to put Bluefins ahead and then 2 quick goals by Richard Smith and Gavin Bridger sealed the game for Bluefins.

The next game for Bluefins was against Invicta Marlins with first quarter goals by Michael Seipp and Kottas, with only one response back from Marlins giving Basingstoke a 2-1 lead.

The second quarter was also low scoring but 2 more goals from Kottas left the quarter with Bluefins 4-1 up.

This allowed Basingstoke to experiment with their squad and give more players rest for their 3rd and final game of the weekend. In the third quarter Adams was excluded for the match for 3 major fouls but goals from Ben Naylor and Jones and 2 responses from Marlins left the third quarter score line at 6-3 to Bluefins.

In the fourth quarter Richard Smith also picked up his third major of the game to join Adams on the bench but 2 more goals from Kottas ensured Bluefins finished 8-3 winners.

The third game of the weekend was due to be against Jersey but they had to unfortunately forfeit the match due to transportation problems.
